 POSITION DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

 

The Township of Denville is seeking to hire a qualified individual for the position of Deputy Court Administrator to staff the shared municipal courts of Denville/ Mountain Lakes.  The qualified candidate must have experience in all aspects of court administration, including a strong working knowledge of the ATS/ACS, MACS and Page Center computer systems; municipal court sound recording equipment and strong financial skills in managing the general and bail accounts. Excellent customer service skills, attention to details, organization and self-motivation are a must.  Office hours are 8:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: answering queries from internal and external court users; supervising staff; preparing, reviewing and monitoring daily, weekly and monthly reports, evaluating reports, drafting correspondence;  docketing tickets/complaints, accepting fine payments, scheduling cases, preparing certified dispositions, filing, data entry; complying with the New Jersey Rules of Court, Supreme Court Directives, laws and established policies and procedures governing the operations of the Municipal Courts of New Jersey.

Candidates must be accredited as set forth by the NJ Court Rule 1:41-3. The hiring process will comply with the New Jersey Court Rule 1:34-3, adopted September 13, 2011.

Tax Assessor

 

The Township of Denville is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as its certified Tax Assessor      

Salary:   Dependent upon qualifications/experience.

General Job Duties:

  1. Field work which includes: property inspections, sales analysis and property valuations;
  2. Investigate and process tax appeals in Tax Court and the County Board of Taxation;
  3. Prepare and maintain property records cards for each parcel of property in the Township;
  4. Records property sales data and determines usability of sales;
  5.  Enter new sub-divisions on official tax maps and in MOD-IV computer program;
  6.  Ensure tax maps are maintained up-to-date;
  7. Prepare assessment roll to show increase or decrease in assessments because of new construction, demolition, fire damage, property exemptions or other authorized cause;
  8. Ensure timely preparation of all statutory reports;
  9. Examines appeals of assessed valuation and prepares assists in defense of appeals;
  10. Provide testimony before the County Board of Taxation and State Tax Court;
  11. Ensure accurate valuation and coordinate periodic revaluation of real property in Township; and
  12. Communicates with public and answers inquiries relating to assessments.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, college experience preferred;
  2. Must have Certified Tax Assessor License and experience appearing before the Tax Court of New Jersey and/or the County Board of Taxation;
  3. Ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of the New Jersey’s local taxation laws;
  4. Strong organizational, research, as well as solid oral and written communication skills; and
  5. Must possess strong customer service skills and be able to effectively interact and work with others.

LABORER –PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

The Township of Denville is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as full-time Laborer in the Department of Public Works.                

Salary:    $15.80 / hour plus an attractive benefits package (2017 Rate)

General Job Duties:

 The selected candidate(s) shall be assigned to perform manual labor tasks in Parks, Roads and Utilities divisions of the Denville Department of Public Works;

 The individual(s) must be available to work weekends; 

 The candidate(s) must be able to interact with fellow employees, management and members of the public in a polite, courteous and professional manner at all times; and

 Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Job Requirements:

 Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License and either have a Class B CDL license or be able to obtain a Class B CLD license within 60 days of starting employment with the Township; and

 Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
