Recycling Contest Entry Form

earth day 2

Denville Green Sustainability Committee is proud to announce Denville's April 22 celebration event marking the Fortieth Anniversary of the first observed Earth Day. Our theme for this Thursday evening event is "Recycling Really Matters " and features a competition for designing the project best exemplifying that effort. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative use of recycled products and the most innovative use of recycled materials. This competition/ celebration continues the Recycling Initiative Mayor Hussa launched in the Spring of 2008.

Denville hopes to demonstrate the savings that the town can achieve by removing recyclable materials from the waste stream. Our goal is to save $165,000 annually, a full point on the tax rate, by converting 15% of the rubbish generated in town, into the recycling stream. Kids of all ages are invited to join the competition and share their ideas to help Denville meet its recycling goal. Entry forms will be available at the April 22nd venue or go to DenvilleNj.org to submit an entry form prior to April 22. Girl Scouts from Denville will also be on hand to create displays, posters and artwork, at interactive stations focusing on the theme: "What recycling means to me". Savings bonds will be awarded to winning entries in August. The evening's focus on environmental education will be further developed in a series of short talks and panel discussions on issues including energy conservation, the Rockaway River's water quality, the Sustainable New Jersey Program, and the Morris County Park System. Please join us April 22nd as we explore the new environmental agenda.
